Thailand visa in 2026: 30 days visa-free, the DTV and longer stays

What changed on September 15, 2026: 30 days visa-free, a cap on land entries, the TDAC arrival card and the DTV for six months of Muay Thai. Table by country.

On September 15, 2026, Thailand cut back its visa exemption: instead of 60 days for 93 countries, it is now 30 days for 60 countries. For a short fishing trip or a check-up, nothing changes. For a month-long camp or a longer program, a lot does.

Rules change. Before you buy tickets, we check the current rules for your passport against official sources of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Entries by land

Visa-free entries by land are limited to two per calendar year. There is no limit on the number of entries by air, but immigration officers may ask about the purpose of frequent trips, your onward ticket and your funds.

TDAC digital arrival card

Since May 1, 2025, the paper arrival card has been replaced by the electronic Thailand Digital Arrival Card. You fill it in online on the official immigration website within the three days before arrival. It is free, so don’t pay intermediary websites.

How to stay longer

  • Extending a visa-free stay at an immigration office. Under current rules, you can extend once, by 30 days, for a 1,900 THB fee; we confirm the conditions for your passport before the trip.
  • Tourist visa (TR): 60 days, extendable by 30, applied for in advance via e-Visa.
  • DTV for long programs: Muay Thai, medical treatment, remote work.

DTV: the visa for Muay Thai and long programs

The Destination Thailand Visa is a five-year multiple-entry visa. Each entry allows a stay of up to 180 days, which can be extended in-country for another 180 days. It covers remote work and “soft power” programs: Muay Thai, Thai cooking, medical treatment and others.

  • The fee is 10,000 THB.
  • Proof of funds: at least 500,000 THB in your account.
  • An enrollment letter from the camp or school.
  • Some consulates also ask for a police clearance certificate.
  • You apply online through the official e-Visa portal, from your country of citizenship or residence.
The ERKAK concierge puts together the DTV document package for a Muay Thai program: the camp letter, training plan and accommodation. The consulate makes the decision; our job is to prepare the documents so that there are fewer questions.

Frequently asked questions

Are 30 days enough for a Muay Thai camp?

For a four-week camp, yes: our program runs for 28 days. For 6–8 weeks of fight preparation, you need a tourist visa or a DTV.

Do I need a return ticket?

Yes. Immigration may ask for proof that you will leave within the permitted stay and that you have funds for the trip. Keep your return ticket and accommodation bookings handy.

Can I work remotely without a visa?

Visa-free entry is for tourism. For working remotely from Thailand, there is the DTV.

Prices and rules are based on public sources as of the update date and may change. This is not medical or legal advice.
